Now more than ever communication is a value you can’t put a price on. I am thinking of those who have reached out to recruiters hoping for roles that might give them job security, others following up on meetings or sales calls that were so positive and productive a few months ago and then... the dreaded silence. On the flip side understanding can be a kindness too. People can be overwhelmed with the ever changing crisis situation, coping with an avalanche of newsletters/emails (is that the correct collective noun?) But in amongst all of that, relationships must be maintained, people still have the basic human need of feeling valued and respected...and communication is the one thing that can make a positive difference. And when we come out the other side of this crisis those relationships will be the ones that will endure. So I call out to everyone (myself included) who may have ‘parked’ a response to an email from someone they met, someone who reached out to them, someone who might just need an update – even if nothing has progressed - it’s a courtesy to keep them informed. And more than that...it’s kind and we need a lot more of that these days. Don’t you think?
